Thailand is one of my favorite places in the whole world for many reasons. Especially if you’re traveling on a budget, affordability is a huge draw. The food is amazing, the people are polite, and the experiences will blow you away. When you travel to Thailand, there are some things you’ll want to know—and some things you need to bring. Our list of 8 must pack items for Thailand Travel will help you with this!
Whether you’re interested in exploring the tropical beaches, luxurious sights, or remote wilderness, you’ll want to be prepared. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be ready for all that and more.
Before we get into the eight must pack items for Thailand travel, let’s cover a basic packing strategy that can save you a lot of frustration: pack light. No matter what stage of your trip you’re on, you won’t want to be bogged down by heavy bags.
First of all, you won’t have to pay extra baggage fees on your flight. If you need to store items in a hostel or locker, you can easily shove all your belongings into a tight space. And if you need to bring your things with you when switching destinations, walking with your items will be a breeze.

Portable Battery Charger
It’s not as easy to find a convenient power outlet in Thailand as it is in some other countries. Especially if you plan to spend long days outside of your hostel or visit more remote areas of Thailand, you’ll need a powerful and reliable portable charger like the EAFU Power Bank.

If you don’t bring bug repellent to Thailand, you will regret it. The green gardens and natural spaces attract more than just tourists, and insect repellent isn’t widely available in Thailand.

Small Daypack

A towel is a super useful item to bring when traveling, especially if you want to swim or stay in a hostel where they aren’t provided—but standard towels take up an enormous amount of space.

Thailand has more outlet types than most places, and some even match US or European plugs—but you can’t be sure if your plugs will always match the outlets.

Keep in mind that the voltage may be different than what you’re used to. Most outlets in Thailand supply 230V. Before you go, check if your products can withstand Thailand voltage.
Combination Lock
Most hostels provide a locker or some sort of lockable space for you to store your items in. What they don’t provide are locks.
You’ll also want a lock if you rent a motorbike while in Thailand. They’re a great way to get around, but you’ll want to chain and lock it up when parked to prevent theft.

Individually Wrapped Flushable Wipes
These can be lifesavers. If a place runs out of toilet paper (or maybe they never had any to begin with), you’ll need something to wipe with.

These wipes are also flushable, so if there’s no bin, there’s no problem. You can send it down the drain with a clean conscience instead of being forced to take it with you or litter.
I also like to use these wipes to clean my hands, face, or body when I don’t have access to running water. They’re safe to use everywhere.
